from 2021-02-08T00:00
#21: Our guest today, “Six”, talks to us about his experience serving in the military for 15 years and the struggles he went through when transitioning out of military life and into normal civilian life. Six gives us insight into the gruesome realities of being in the military and how he currently battles with PTSD.
We also talk about how there isn’t much support when transitioning out of the service and how having a supportive family has really helped.
Six has served all around the world from the California west coast, to ships patrolling the Pacific, to the deserts of the Middle East. Today, Six hosts his own podcast “Cancelled For Maintenance” where he provides insight into the military aviation community.
In this episode we talk about:
- Why he joined the military
- What it was like serving in the US Marine Corps
- What it’s like being a military veteran and how hard it is to transition back to normal life
- PTSD in military veterans
- PTSD and domestic abuse
- The struggles of being away from your family for long periods of time
