Rocío’s journey with Mezcal began in her parents’ home town of Zapotlán el Grande, Jalisco. Drinking Ponche, a spirit made by her grandparents that consists of mezcal and pomegranate juice. They would make this spirit for gatherings and special occasions. Rocío is a native Angelina, and was fortunate to grow up between Los Angeles and Jalisco, Mexico. In her twenties, she lived in Jalisco and learned more about this amazing spirit interviewing her grandfather and traveling through southern Jalisco. While immersing herself in this wonderful world of agaves, she soon fell in love with the history, the process and the diversity in flavors. In 2010 she opened the first mezcaleria in Zapotlán el Grande, Jalisco. Where she only offered traditional Mezcales made in the region, and from Oaxaca. She relocated to LA where she continues to follow her passion for Mezcal by hosting private tastings and educating consumers and Mezcal enthusiasts about the history, the process and the different varieties in traditional agave spirits @Mezcalting. Along with her private tastings, she is a representative for Of Spine and Vine an exporter and distributor of Only traditional agave spirits.  Some of the brands they work with are. CUISH, NETA, AMORMATA and NACIÓN DE LAS VERDES MATAS
