Some say we post on social media for attention. I admit it’s partially true, but I think totally normal and not necessarily a bad thing. As long as it’s not our driving force and what makes us feel valued as individuals.
God wants us to let our light shine and we can’t do that if we are hiding it.
It’s like saying that someone who loves to sing and has the desire to sing on stage is totally self absorbed and narcissistic.
Let your light shine on others so that we can ALL shine together.
Like feeling inspired by the words of a beautiful song, be that voice singing the song loud and clear for all to hear.
People will have their opinions about you, but sing your song anyway. .
Writing this post reminded me of one of my very first YouTube videos I made over 8 years ago. I called it my American Idol moment. It’s a clip of when I sang to my husband on our wedding day, and the message is that I’m not a “singer” but always wanted to express my love through song on my wedding day. I’m grateful I didn’t let fear and concern for what others might think, keep me from pursuing a once in a life time chance to do this. Here’s the video if you want to watch it.

There’s a lot of talk going around about the negative effects social media can have on people, especially teenagers.
Last week I opened up my social media notifications to find a whole slew of mean comments on one of my posts. There was a time when this would have sent me down a path of sadness and shame, but I’m happy to announce that it didn’t bother me... MUCH☺️. I’m still human and I have feelings but I’m finally beginning to grasp the concept that, what people say and think about you, has absolutely NOTHING to do with you. .
This week I’m going into more detail about this and share some personal experiences too. I think it’s great to raise awareness about cyber bullying, comparisons, perception of perfection, and everything else that goes on when we indulge in this wonderful yet destructive way of being “social”. .
In the mean time, have a great weekend, be nice to others, especially yourself, and don’t take anything personally.
