Covid-19 infections are receding in East Asia and much of South East Asia, but the numbers are rising in South Asia. Churches are reopening in  Pakistan's Punjab province as part of a gradual easing of coronavirus lockdown restrictions. Jesuits all over the world mourn over the death of former Jesuit superior general Adolfo Nicolas. The Church in Timor Leste is worried over the political wrangling while in Indonesia, a controversial cleric was arrested to serve the remainder of his prison sentence after he violated the terms of his parole. China continues to use Covid-19 as a cover to control Hong Kong. Its lockdown restrictions will make it hard to organize this year's annual candlelight vigil that marks China's crackdown on pro-democracy protesters three decades ago in Tiananmen Square. A super cyclone hit eastern and India and Bangladesh, killing more than 80 people and leaving a trail of destruction. In south India, worship remains restricted, and a Catholic bishop wants to quit his influential bishop's office to become a hermit.
