Gaslighting is the psychological manipulation of a person, usually over an extended period of time, that can cause the victim to question their own thoughts and experiences and lead to a loss of confidence and self-esteem, as well as a dependence on the perpetrator. In a medical context, that leads to further risk of the patient's well-being as well as their psychological and physical safety.
