Christmas and the spirit of the season has always been celebrated in the Disney Parks, beginning in Disneyland in 1955, and continuing to Walt Disney World just two months after the park opened in 1971. Through the years, a variety of celebrations, shows, and spectacles have been featured in the parks, hotels, and throughout the resort. This week, we will look back at the History of Christmas in Walt Disney World, from the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Candlelight Processionals, to bears, Osborne Lights, Santa, the glory and pageantry, lights, celebrities, music, characters, and everything else that make up the Jolly Holidays at Walt Disney World. I’ll then ask you to share your memories with me for the show!
