Joseph Taveras: How To Travel The World For Free - a podcast by Ben Gothard | Project EGG

Traveling around the world is a dream for most people, but a reality for only a select few who either have enough money to go anywhere or learn how to travel the world for free. In this interview, Joseph Taveras, world traveler, shares his origin story in entrepreneurship and breaks down how he travels the world for free.

Starting out with entrepreneurship in high school, Joe was about 16 and in a marketing class. At that point in time, he didn't know what he wanted to do with his life. But that would all change when one of his school's guest entrepreneurship professors came down to speak to Joe's class.

This professor took a very different approach from most. Instead of teaching from a book, he would give the students a task to complete out in the real world. Inspired by this teacher, Joe decided to create his own t-shirt company within the school. That first business failed, but he learned valuable lessons from it that would help him later on in his life.

The next school year, the professor came back and re-inspired Joe to try his hand at more business ventures. His entrepreneurial path laid out for him, Joe proceeded to join other entrepreneurs and help them accomplish their dreams, learning all about sales, marketing, etc. along the way.

After a few years of learning and growing, Joe decided that it was time to pursue his own dream again. He started off with day trading, learning from one of his friend's dad who was a full time trader. He quickly figured out that wasn't for him, so he picked up and moved to California to get a fresh start.

In this fresh environment, Joe started really diving deep into his own strengths and weaknesses, trying to figure out what he really wanted to spend his time and energy doing. While doing this soul searching, he was also building up his skills in social media marketing - specifically Instagram.

What he realized what that he was always passionate about photography and filmmaking. So, with the new marketing skills he developed and the videography skills he was always honing, he set off on a grand adventure.
