Michael Bloomfield is the Executive Vice President and Managing Director of The Mellman Group, which has provided opinion research and strategic advice to political leaders, public interest groups, Fortune 500 companies, and government agencies for over twenty years.

  • Michael Bloomfield grew up in Cleveland, Ohio before attending the University of Michigan
  • He began his career in politics working as an unpaid Senate staffer, which he parlayed into a foreign policy position with Sen. Ted Kennedy
  • After running a few local campaigns in college, he went back to Capitol Hill and worked as a staffer to Sen. Howard Metzenbaum and Sen. Don Riegle
  • Following a brief stint with a family investment business, he joined AIPAC, and was with them for roughly 10 years, rising to the rank of Political Director
  • At the time he was with AIPAC, the organization had about 100 staffers - it has since almost tripled in size
  • He has been with his current firm, the Mellman Group, for almost 20 years
  • The Mellman Group is a polling and market research firm, which does work for political campaigns, industry groups, companies, and non-profits
  • The polling/surveying industry is rapidly changing, thanks in part to the advent of the internet and cell phones
  • Despite the changes, however, live-call polling is still the most effective form of polling
  • Michael is an avid marathon runner
