Dom Giordano, WPHT host and former teacher, has dedicated much of his daily show toward parents who are taking it into their own hands to push back against school boards that have a negative impact on their children. This has culminated in a weekly podcast on education, Readin', Writin', and Reason, which has allowed wonderful relationships to develop between Giordano, educators, and parents throughout the country who are speaking out against overbearing school boards. This week, Dom spends time speaking with those in the know, people who have experienced much of what we're seeing first-hand before, and have fought back in their own ways.

To get us started, Dom chronologically recounts a situation that has unfolded locally to the home base of Readin’ Writin’ Reason, 1210WPHT in Philadelphia, in Bucks County. Health Director David Damsker, a friend of the podcast, has long been a beacon of light for parents and citizens who would like to see their county remain open. While other counties have been overbearing in their Coronavirus edicts, Damsker and Bucks County have leaned heavily toward allowing business and schools to operate freely. This changed within the past week, with the Bucks County Health Department issuing new guidance urging schools to require masks indoors. Dom visits with Josh Hogan, a leader of a grassroots group supporting open businesses and schools called ReOpen Bucks, to take a deep dive into the changing of course by the Bucks County Health Department and their director, David Damsker. Then, Josiah Enyart, a schoolteacher out in Kansas who faced a tough situation and saw an outpouring of support, joins Giordano to explain why he felt the need to quit his job. Enyart, an elementary school teacher from Shawnee, Kansas, left his position after taking issue with the infusion of political curricula such as Critical Race Theory, and overbearing mandates during the pandemic. After leaving, Enyart was given a $1,000 fine, and had a GoFundMe set up in his name by concerned parents and local citizens to help recoup the cost. Nobody would have expected the outpouring of support that he received, and Enyart joins Readin’, Writin’, and Reason to explain what he hopes to do with the donations he received, and explains why he felt the need to leave his post as a public educator.
