Full Hour | In today’s final hour, Dom Giordano welcomes in John McNesby, President of the FOP Lodge 5, to discuss why the FOP has now offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators who shot and killed 15-year-old Sean Toomey in the Wissinoming section of the city. McNesby tells that the FOP regularly offers rewards such as these, but suggests that the reward is getting more coverage than normal due to the shocking nature of the killing, with Toomey struck by a rogue bullet while unloading a pack of water bottles from his father’s car. Also, McNesby offers his opinion on proposals in Philadelphia city council concerning funding the police department, with McNesby stressing the importance of the reversal of recruitment edicts set forth by the council that has hampered the ability for the department to recruit. Then, Philadelphia Councilperson Cherelle Parker rejoins the Dom Giordano Program to discuss a new budget proposal making headlines around the city calling for further investment into policing in the city to combat the astronomical spike in violent crime in Philadelphia. First, Giordano asks Parker to lay out the plan in full, with Parker laying out the 5 aspects of her plan and stressing that Philadelphians she speaks with clearly want safer streets. Then, Giordano asks Parker about a residency requirement for recruitment for Philadelphia police, which requires that any candidate live in Philadelphia for a year prior to employment, with Parker arguing that the topic is a red herring in the debate, arguing that recruitment efforts have been suffering statewide and nationwide. Also, Giordano asks Parker about her relationship with District Attorney Larry Krasner, calling into question why he has not been held accountable for his role in leading us toward this crime issue.
