Captain John Walker of the 15th District of the Philadelphia Police Department joins the Dom Giordano Program to discuss the issue of ‘boom parties,’ which Walker has taken upon himself to try and find a solution. Boom parties, which have become an oft-discussed topic on the Dom show, are floating parties of sound hobbyists displaying their sound systems, sometimes pumping out 175db of sound, disrupting neighborhoods in Philadelphia and over 100 square miles of New Jersey. Walker gives Giordano a rundown as to where the situation currently stands, and discusses potential policing strategies that can be employed to help curb the excessive sound. Also, Giordano and Walker discuss other quality of life policing strategies that could be employed to curb the ATVs and dirt bikes all around Philadelphia, and explain how quality of life crimes negatively impact the city as a whole.
