Welcome to the fourth edition of the #CharlotteIsCreative podcast. Today’s show is the live recording of the Creative Mornings Charlotte event from Friday, April 21, when Matt Olin spoke with Harvey Gantt about the global theme of “beyond” in front of more than 700 creatives at Camp North End.

It’s no exaggeration to say that Harvey Gantt is one of the most important names in Charlotte’s history. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, Harvey Gantt founded Gantt Huberman Architects in 1971, winning multiple awards for project throughout the city. In 1983, Gantt became the city’s first African American mayor, and served two consecutive terms. He has also served on the boards of numerous cultural, civic and business organizations. Mr. Gantt’s legacy will forever be preserved as the former Afro-American Cultural Center renamed itself in Gantt’s honor in 2009.

Remember, the next Creative Mornings Charlotte event will be held Friday, May 12 at Warehouse 242, and feature WFAE’s Nick De La Canal as the speaker on the global theme of serendipity. Remember to register for this free event by visiting creativemornings.com/cities/clt at 9am, Monday, May 8.
