Anthony Martin is a man on a mission.

22 years ago he started the Urban Youth Racing School (UYRS) in Philadelphia, thereby giving predominately young, African American children their first glimpse into a sport/world/industry that they knew nothing about.

NASCAR, IHRA, and the like and the cars, speed, look, design, fun of the racing world captured the kids attention & their imagination.

UYRS teaches them the sport, the mechanics, the mathematics, the science, the technology, the engineering, the artistry, etc., and the darndest thing happened along the way...

The kids started seeing and understanding the relationship between the racing world and what they're being taught in school.

Consequently their grades started to improve, the graduation rate from high school improved, college attendance and graduation improved, and these formerly neglected, overlooked, underserved, disenfranchised kids started to bloom...into scientists, pilots, mathematicians, engineers, and the like.

Who would have thought any of that was possible?

Anthony did.

His story is inspiring.

Enjoy this episode!
