Mekia Cox

MEKIA COX Mekia has been dazzling audiences since the age of two when she performed her first solo song and dance. It was then that she knew her purpose in life was to entertain. With early career credits including “One Tree Hill”, “CSI:NY”, “Half & Half” and “Bones,” she proceeded to be cast in award-winning television series such as “Modern Family”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Gotham”, “Key & Peele”, “Almost Human”, and a multitude of other TV shows including The CW’s hit series “90210” where she was cast as the vivacious DJ, Sasha. On the big screen she’s appeared alongside Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling in the romantic comedy “Crazy, Stupid, Love”, as well as dancing alongside Michael Jackson in the 2009 tour/documentary “This Is It”. She’s also been afforded the opportunity to work with other industry icons including J.J. Abrams and producer Josh Reims when she was granted her first series regular role on NBC's “Undercovers,” as well as with three-time Academy Award nominee Frank Darabont in TNT’s “Mob City”. Most recently she’s been seen as Princess Tiana in ABC’s “Once Upon a Time” and is best known for her role as Robin Charles on NBC’s “Chicago Med.” Currently Mekia has joined ABC’s “The Rookie” where she plays tough undercover cop turned training officer Nyla Harper. Mekia's talents also exceed what has been captured on screen. With a Bachelor of Music Degree in Musical Theatre and two national tours under her belt (“Fame" and "Smoke Joe’s Café"), her goal is to share her passion for storytelling with world.
