Julia Galvin is a novelty sports enthusiast. After a car accident, Zimmer frame for 3 years and reading the Guinness World Records Book in hospital Julia learned to swim and bog snorkel. She became the Ladies World Champion Mountain Bike Bog snorkeller and soon went on to the Wife Carrying World Championships in Sonkajärvi, Finland.

Food for thought:

  • How injuries drive you to learn to swim and compete in weird sports competitions
  • The strangeness of the sports and the community around them creates a sense of belonging
  • Life is too short. Make the most of it

Check out the World Bog Snorkelling Championships, Wife Carrying World Championship and Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival some of Julia’s favorite events.
