Psychology: Personality Disorders/Diagnosis, Archetypal Psychology
Topic: Diagnosing the Batman Villain Known as The Joker.

Disclaimer: As a disclaimer I want to caution people around potential risk of misdiagnosis or overdiagnosis and overidentifying with a diagnosis. This can be harming and dangerous. Diagnosis can be misplaced without having all the information. Also, I recognize there is a societal stigma around diagnoses while it can provide relief, resources, and help, due to the stigma it can also become labeling and discriminatory. Mental health challenges are not to be taken lightly, to make fun of, or discriminated against. Most important of all, it is gravely important that you understand not everyone living with a mental illness is dangerous, violent, or someone to be afraid of. This is especially vital to keep in mind when assessing comic book villains on this podcast.

This podcast is simply meant to combine some of my own passions and stimulate conversations around characters from Pop Culture.

Please note this is a podcast designed around fictional characters. Psych Hero has no affiliation with DC, Marvel, or any other publications discussed in this podcast.

Step into the world of diagnosis as Jacenta tackles one of the most challenging comic book character, The Joker. Begin with a brief history of the Jokers creation and the symbolic nature of his iconic look. Engage in a discussion of the archetype symbology of The Fool or Trickster archetype in relation to the Joker in order to build a clinical analysis of his character. There are references to his origin stories and how he interacts with others as the shadow of Batman. Once footing is gained, the diagnosis begins starting with just one cluster (out of three) personality types: Antisocial Personality Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and Histrionic Personality Disorder.
