PC012 - The Worry Formula

Worry. Worry messes with our heads and our ability to show up for our coaching clients in the way they need us. When we are worried and stressed, often we will fall back on our coping mechanisms. But if our coping mechanisms aren’t as healthy as they should be, it leads to vulnerability - vulnerability in the practice and vulnerability personally. If we're not doing things to put a fundamental structure in place, we slip into ‘fight or flight’ mode and are more vulnerable to those figurative sabretooth tigers. But, while we don't want to worry about things, we also don't want to ignore the potential for bad things to happen.

So, how do we - as coaches - build the fundamental foundations in our practices so if things pop up, we are more resilient and more resistant to them?

On today's episode, I discuss how stress and worry impact our ability to show up for our clients and coaching practice. I share a very simple but effective formula that coaches can use to change their focus and get to work on the things they can control to make things better. I discuss why I believe we - as humans - are hardwired to worry, despite knowing the long-term effects it can have on our health. I discuss how mindfulness can be a very useful tool when it is used correctly and how you can focus on the ‘now’ while still preparing for tomorrow and navigating life’s detours. I also discuss how to remove the worry and fear of the unknown by refocusing your brain on gratitude and growth instead of fear and loss.
