This is in no way completely representative of World music (which is silly lumping everything not in English into one name), but it is a taste of a few artists that like to let their worldy experiences and influences affect their work. Whether it's Beirut's European roadtrip inspired "Postcards From Italy", DJ Shadow's opening Norweigan prog sample for "Mutual Slump", or the infectious Italian audience participation in Jens Lekman's "A Sweet Summer's Night At Hammer Hill" these songs are ecstatic and joyful, a bit exotic, but only to please.
