Picking up where we left off in our last episode on addiction; in this episode we tackle the experience of the people around the addict and the relationship cycles that perpetuate and enable addiction. Co-dependence. Where does it come from? Why do we stay in those cycles?  Is codependency actually an addiction? How do we get out? We'll talk about healthy boundaries, "relapsing", and being prepared for what that means for our relationships... Again, we use the example of alcoholism a lot in this episode, but keep in mind that all the concepts we discuss here are applicable to any and all addictions; substance or behavioral.  This is the second episode of a three-part series on addiction, co-dependence, and relationship dynamics in recovery.

If you have any lingering questions on this topic, personal/specific situational questions, or comments, feel free to leave them in the comments here, direct message me through Instagram @pinkchairthairapy, or via email at pinkchairthairapy@gmail.com.

Remember, we're here to encourage and open conversation in the mindset that whatever it is - IT'S OKAY. "No one enters adulthood without baggage." So many negative, destructive, and sometimes debilitating things fester when things like this stay hidden - shame, self-hatred, resentment, addiction, the list could go on; but if we're talking about it, we're bringing it into the light and it can't fester in the darkness anymore. IT'S OKAY! You are not alone. Let's talk about it!

We don't reference this in this video, but I've personally (Rebekah) received so much empowerment, personal awareness, development and healing through an Al-Anon group, that I am going to link their, and a few other sites, in case anyone wants to start taking the steps to find a supportive community:
