The Hack is back again with hosts Leon McQuade, Paul Longley, and Jo Kent. This time, The Hack is joined by guest Gale Acaster.

In this episode, we open discussion on the books that have greatly influenced or changed our lives - to quote Gail who quotes Francis Bacon, knowledge is power, after all. We then move on to looking at the positive side of life following all of the negativity that more than a year of COVID-19 has brought us. We also begin by talking a little about how our pasts have shaped us, whether that be for better or for worse. However, it's important to remember that our pasts do not necessarily define us in the present or even in our future selves.

How schools have changed in recent years and how we can learn from these changes is also a big part of this conversation. Video games, violence, natural aggressions and more all make an appearance. Spreading love and kindness in the modern world is something our hosts and guests also discuss, alongside daily mantras, meditation, and gratitude journals. So, yeah, quite a bit of contrast in the topics talked about.

Much of this episode's discourse is led by the idea of the chimp paradox, based on the book of the same name by Professor Steve Peters. The chimp paradox is a mind management model that allows you to understand and take care of your own emotions, overriding the primitive response of fight, flight, or freeze. Stepping back from the complexities of the modern world is something that our team today has learnt with age, whether that be by going for a walk or listening to music.

We finish off the episode talking about who in history we would like to talk to about modern society. Einstein and Princess Diana are two of the prominent names featured.
