SCRIPTURE TEXT: Genesis 37, 39, 40, 45, & 50

Joseph, a favored figure among the twelve sons of Jacob (AKA Israel), also faced betrayal from his own brothers who sold him into slavery in Egypt, where his earnest & excellent service brought him mainly mistreatment from his masters and ultimately imprisonment in an Egyptian prison. Joseph may well have wondered if God Himself had forsaken him, yet rather than give in to depression & despair, Joseph held on to the Lord with patient hope & trust. And ultimately, all that others had intended for evil against Joseph, God turned to good for him & for many (Gen 50:20) by the virtue of His grace and the power of Joseph’s patient faith.
