The Lakers are just about ready to open training camp. It's coming on Tuesday! But before it does, we take a look at a couple lingering, and extremely important, questions from last week's press conference with General Manager/VP of Basketball Operations Rob Pelinka. (Along with some housekeeping news about that 14th roster spot...)

First, Pelinka laid out some lofty goals for Anthony Davis this season. Nothing short of him finishing as the best two way player in the NBA, with a second championship thrown in to boot. Is that a fair expectation? Yes, given his talent and the need for him to elevate his play over last season for the Lakers to get where they want to go. Is Davis up to the task?Second, the Lakers have more players capable of contributing to the rotation than minutes available for them to do it. Pelinka spoke at length Thursday about shared sacrifice and mindset, especially among the role players. Wayne Ellington echoed those comments on a podcast last week. But all of this is easier said than done. How effectively will the group function, if guys aren't playing as much as they'd like?

From there, it's a look at the roster. The Lakers, no surprise, are a top heavy group. They've been top heavy for the last couple seasons. But the gap between their best players and the supporting cast does seem wider this year than last, or even the year before. Is that a problem? It's just one question facing one of the most unique rosters the NBA has ever seen. (Something reinforced with a very fun thought experiment involving a time machine before the show is over.)HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky
