G&R Episode 15: Mutual Aid in a Pandemic. NOLA Edition! With Jasmine Araujo from Southern Solidarity! - a podcast by Green and Red
from 2020-04-24T16:39:42
In this episode, Jasmine Araujo of Southern Solidarity joins us to discuss Mutual Aid in a Pandemic, in New Orleans. She and her crew have set up shop and they feed 200 people a day, give them blankets, arrange for medical care, and help when they get harassed by cops or passers-by. She discusses the origins of Southern Solidarity, their daily routine, and the way COVID-19 has affected the homeless in New Orleans. After that, Scott and Bob talk a little about the importance of Mutual Aid and workers actions. While the media is reporting the spectacle of little Nazis and Confederates "protesting" at State Capitols, a far greater number of people are staging workplace actions for better working conditions and safety.
