Ben has recently left LSE, where he was Professor of Environment and Development Economics. His research has focused on the welfare analysis of public policies that have long-term welfare effects. In particular, he has worked on the determinants of the social discount rate (SDR) and empirical measures of intergenerational and intra-generational fairness. Ben’s new position is Dragon Capital Chair of Biodiversity Economics at the University of Exeter where he will lead a £1.6 million pound partnership between the University of Exeter and Dragon Capital.
