Today Beryl sits down for a conversation with Alethea Fitzpatrick, a former architect turned family photographer & photography coach for parents at Photosanity.

Born and brought up in the UK, Alethea lives in Brooklyn with her husband and her two sons and loves helping parents find joy, connection and delight in their day-to-day parenting experience through photography.

Beryl chats with Alethea about her left brain meets right brain perspectives on the creative process.

During the conversation they chat about:
  • Why it's ok to to approach photography with a 'design mindset' instead of a 'fine art' mindset and what that actually means
  • How Alethea bridged the transition from learning film photography first to mastering a DSLR camera after becoming a mom
  • The need of the creative to 'make with their hands' and how Alethea has transitioned that sentiment throughout her various creative projects.
  • Alethea shares her tips for using a camera as a family connector and not a disruptor.

HOMEWORK: Momtographie is back! If you're struggling with photos that are blurry, dark or dull, too bright, or out of focus then I can help.

After years of experimentation, practice, and having someone show me the ins and out of technical photography -- I finally mastered manual mode.

Now, I've taken my expertise in teaching and my passion for photography to develop a system that breaks down technical photography in a way that will quickly build your confidence behind the lens.
