Battleship week is coming to a close. We hope you’ve taken with you some key insights from highly-decorated, battle-tested military leaders. However, before we wrap, we have 2 great leaders sharing their keynotes with us about placing the mission first, never accepting defeat, never quitting, or leaving anyone behind and why it’s important to take care of ourselves to become better leaders.

Today we have Dr. Gary McGrath, CEO of Statarius & U.S. Army Veteran & Bob Pizzini, CEO of iFly Virginia Beach Indoor Skydiving and Retired EOD Officer, U.S. Navy.

Dr. Gary McGrath talked about how he was destined to be in the military, with a long line of family ties to all branches. He introduced Compassionate Accountability – which he defines as the ability to build relationships so we can achieve our goals together. He also tied the IGYB (I Got Your Back) mentality and why it’s important for your organization to adopt WGYB mindset. Listen to hear what ‘B’ stands for.

Next, Navy Veteran Bob Pizzini talked about the art and science of leadership covering the six key components of leadership. Some of them are obvious, others not so much. Bob also covers the one thing you can do everyone can do right as you wake up that will get your body ready to go. Hint: it doesn’t have anything to do with exercise, but exercise is an important part of Bob’s plan. He also explains why leaders should never make decisions when ‘HALT’ – find that what that means.
